Belladrum has launched a search for students at Scottish art schools to design artwork for next year’s festival

The Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival has launched a search for exciting new artists and designers in art schools across Scotland to bring the artwork at next year’s event to life.

Festival producer Dougie Brown said: “We are really excited to launch this design tender and to work with an exciting new Scottish artist.

“In addition to the festival which features fresh and exciting design for our 2022 artwork, we look forward to giving an emerging artist or designer the opportunity to showcase their work to our loyal audience Bella.”

The design tender is open to all students who are currently studying at Scottish Art Schools and Colleges, and those who have graduated within the past 12 months.

The theme for next year’s event – July 28-30 – is Myths and Legends. Inspiration can be drawn from tales, stories, music and poetry locally and across Scotland.

Belladrum is Scotland’s largest music and performing arts camping festival and was launched in 2004 as a one-day event with a capacity of 2,000 people. By 2019, it had become a three-day festival with a capacity of 20,000 people.

Family is at the heart of Belladrum which prides itself on entertainment for all ages, from toddlers and teens, parents and grandparents. Away from the main garden stage, the lineup includes well-known names and festival favorites with numerous stages programming a wide variety of entertainment.

The winning artwork will be used for all official 2022 festival brands including main lineup poster, website skinning, social media branding, onsite newspaper branding, all media marketing to the public and industry, the official brand of the newsletter.

Students are encouraged to submit a short written proposal along with examples of their work for review by the January 10 deadline.

All applications should be emailed to [email protected] with the subject line ‘Design Project’. The winning entry will be chosen at the end of January. The winner will work with the festival team to create the official 2022 festival poster and receive a sum of £ 1,500.
